| lpny_committee | This list is for state committee business. Per our bylaws, all members are permitted to join this list in read-only mode to observe committee business. Party officers, former officers, and special advisors to the committee are able to post to the list. Members with something to add to our conversations, please ask your rep or another member of the state committee to forward it to the list for you. |
| lpny regional |
On these local lists, we focus more on relevance to the area covered than on quantity of postings. Other than lpny_manhattan and now Ithaca_LP, which are active lists in their own right, these lists are meant to supplement other libertarian lists you might be on, with news that's local for you. Share those news stories that affect your county!
Junto/NYC: An email discussion list has been established to discuss Junto
speakers and topics of interest to the Junto members--a group of objectivists, libertarians and conservatives who gather monthly.

| lpny_legal | This list is to discuss possible legal manoevers to advance libertarianism in NY. All are invited who share our views on the subjects discussed, such as preventing most or all current eminent domain proceedings, the illegality of NY State bond issues, discussing the defense of people facing prosecution for a victimless crime, planning our next election law suit, coming up with bills to ask legislators to propose, etc.
Also see: NYS Legislative Watch. We're looking for a co-editor to send postings to this moderated list about NYS legislation from a libertarian perspective. |

| technology |
Declan McCullagh is a writer for Wired as well as the publisher of Politech, and keeps a libertarian perspective on the government's reaction to new technology. He's very well informed, and can keep you that way, too. See http://www.well.com/~declan/politech/

| second amendment rights |
Join the Gun Owners of America's list. It's very light traffic, high quality info about important events in the right to keep and bear arms movement. Write to goamail@gunowners.org to be added to the list, and mention what state you reside in to get targetted alerts.
There's also the group Jews for the Preservation of Firearm Ownership... they are also uncompromising supporters of the second amendment (and all the rest of them as well). To sign up for their list, please see http://www.topica.com/lists/jpfo_alerts.

| list etiquette |
Please don't subscribe your friends to any mailing lists without asking permission first! Think twice before posting! Make sure what you're posting is about libertarianism! Respect the time of the other people of the list. In particular, non-libertarian jokes and virus warnings are rarely appropriate. If you have a large file to share, you can make arrangements with the list owner to post it online and only put a URL in your message to the list. Never send subscribe and unsubscribe messages to the mailing list. Save the introduction letter you receive for unsubscription instructions. (Often they are printed in every message you receive from the list: check some of the mail you're getting to avoid embarassment.)
|
It's easy, it's free. All you need is an e-mail account (email is free, too), if you have a computer already.
Try setting your own list up at groups.yahoo.com.
Make sure you let the editor know about any lists you recommend for New Yorkers that aren't on this page..
