The 'Real Kramer" Declares for NYC Mayor

Politics and government seem funny to many people, but politics and humor will merge at the Libertarian Party of New York state and city convention in Manhattan when former comedian Kenny Kramer will appear seeking the Libertarian nomination for NYC mayor.

Who is Kenny Kramer and why is he running? According to State Chair Richard Cooper, "Kenny Kramer is a New York icon, who served as inspiration for the Seinfeld show's Cosmo Kramer after living across the hall from the show's co-creator Larry David. Kenny realized we were the anti-political party for New Yorkers and joined us." As Kenny himself says, "The last time I ran for mayor was kind of a publicity stunt but with the success of Jesse Ventura becoming governor, why can't I be mayor? I'm in it to win it. My campaign slogan is, KRAMER FOR MAYOR.... THIS TIME I'M NOT KIDDING."

Kramer will bring the message that "...the government in NYC needs to be much less oppressive and allow consenting adults the freedom to do whatever they like, as long as they don't hurt anyone."

Also appearing are Mark Edgerton and Doug Friedline, who managed Jesse Ventura's campaign and is now managing Edgerton's Libertarian run for New Jersey governor. Together, Friedline and Edgerton will speak at the convention on "How Third Party Candidates Can Win."

The Libertarian Party comes to town Saturday, April 28th at the Holiday Inn-Midtown, 440 W. 57th Street, Manhattan between 8am and 5:30pm with a NYC mini-convention during the morning business session between 9 and 10 which will nominate a mayoral candidate. Business session free for members and media. Lunch and afternoon sessions have fees. For information, call 516/746-5769 or email nylibertarian@hotmail.com or view the website at ny.lp.org.
