LPNY Member Reports Booth Problems in Carmel
John Ayling reports:
I just got back from voting here in the Town of Carmel at Austin Road School in one of the Election District 16 voting booths. The layout for Governor/Lieutenant Governor is very confusing. In the first place Libertarians share a line with Marijuhana Reform. But, confusing as that is, it's not the main problem. The main problem is that there were actually three voting levers shared between the two parties' governor candidates! The first, on the left, was clearly the MR party. The second lever pivot was over the MR Party's candidates, but the lever extended to the right over the Libertarian Candidates. The third lever was totally over the Libertarian candidate. I used the third lever. So too did my daughter, I found from our discussion after voting. All three levers were available. None were locked out. However, looking at the polling place voting charts before leaving, we noticed only two levers shown on the chart -- the first and the second, with a blank spot for the third. I suppose it might have been set up this way accidentally, but I should mention that my daughter used the other, different District 16 machine, so it's not a single random error.
