Tax Day Press Release 2005
Ithaca, NY, April 15, 2005 - The Ithaca Libertarians and 2004 Libertarian Party national presidential candidate Michael Badnarik will be standing up for taxpayers everywhere and protesting taxes at all levels on Friday, April 15th. Tax protestors will be talking to taxpayers outside the downtown Ithaca branch of the Post Office on N. Tioga St., and at the Bernie Milton Pavilion on the Ithaca Commons between the hours of 2pm and 6pm.
New York has the dishonor of having the second highest state and local tax burden in the United States once again in 2005. NY has been the #1 or #2 highest in state and local tax burden every year since 1970, according to the Tax Foundation (http://www.taxfoundation.org/statelocal.html). Local, state and federal taxes are hurting NY families and businesses, and effectively increasing the size and scope of government to unprecedented levels.
Michael Badnarik, a noted Constitutional scholar and author, will also be taking part in a debate on the U.S. Constitution with Cornell law professors Roger Cramton and Robert Hockett, on Thursday, April 14th at 5:00pm in Cornell’s McGraw 165. The public is invited to attend.
While visiting Ithaca, Mr. Badnarik will be a guest on WHCU with Casey Stevens on Tax Day, April 15th from 6-7am. He will also teach his Introduction to the Constitution Class at Cornell on Saturday, April 16th from 9am - 6pm. Contact the Ithaca Libertarians for more information about taking the class or for interview availability.
