Applications will be accepted for fall through Sept. 24. Selected interns will be expected to commit to complete at least 20 assignments which can include research, writing, helping with mailings, campus and field organizing, and Operation Politically Homeless. Unfortunately, no pay is available at this time but all interns will receive a letter of reference, a certfificate of their participation, and a gift certificate for a libertarian bookstore. Efforts will be made to secure college credit for their participation. Students are encouraged to express an interest in spring and summer internships.
Those who can will be asked to help in campaigns of Scott T. Hurst for Binghamton City Council and of Suffolk candidates such as Audrey Capozzi for Brookhaven Supervisor and Bruce Martin for County Legislature.
Applicants are asked to advise their: Name; e-mail; School address and phone; Permanent address and phone; School; Major/Minor; Expected date of degree; Career Plans; Post-graduate plans. They are asked to answer these questions at any length needed: What public-policy issues interest you? Which books would you consider the most influential in the development of your own philosophy? Briefly describe the role of government in a free society? How familiar are you with government activity in New York State? Explain how you expect to benefit from this internship? When are you available? How did you hear about this internship? In addition, applicants are to submit a resume and short autobiography.
