Letter to the Syracuse Post-Standard: A Coke vs. Pepsi Election

10/4/04

To the Editor:
The mainstream political battle of Bush vs. Kerry is like the cola war of Coke vs. Pepsi - the contents and packaging are only slightly different, and neither one is actually good for you! Isn't it time to choose something with a little more substance, something more than high-priced marketing and catchy slogans?

The Libertarian Party stands for individual freedom, personal responsibility, and limited government - and these are not just promotional buzzwords, they represent a philosophy and a way of life.

To live freely and peacefully and allow others to do the same; to take responsibility for our own actions; to keep all government out of our personal life choices and restrict the federal government to its constitutional boundaries; these are the hallmarks of the libertarian ideal.

If you're dissatisfied with government, demand a higher standard from our elected officials instead of lowering your expectations. If you believe in the ideal of a free and self-governing society as I do, vote Libertarian.
