The right to self-medicate

Libertarians believe that you have the right to make decisions about what you put into your body. The Libertarian Party opposes the War on Drugs as a violation of people's rights and a waste of taxpayer dollars, and is in favor of medical uses of marijuana, seeking to end regulation of all substances.

VT News What's going on with the Medical Marijuana Initiative in our neighboring state? It's been passed twice by the house and senate, but the governors (including presidential hopeful Howard Dean) vetoed it! Now, MPP, NORML, and the Libertarian Party in Vermont are making a push to make it the issue in Governor Douglas's re-election campaign. Have your VT friends sign the petition!

What the Libertarian Party of New York needs your help to do

Yes, we have an answer to the current prohibition... REPEAL IT! Let anyone over 18 (or whatever age is decided on) decide for themselves what they should be putting in their bodies, whether it is a potentially dangerous recreational drug, or a cure for cancer that our FDA hasn't approved yet.

Read 1998 LPNY gubernatorial candidate Chris Garvey's legalization solution. Until the rest of the country wakes up, Chris has a recipe for legalizing marijuana for you, and helping upstate farmers, all at the same time. If you enroll as a Libertarian, your support for ending the drug war will be heard. Whatever you do, please don't waste your vote on someone who would put you in jail for a joint. If you don't vote, nothing witll change.

Stop the Drug War!
