End the Smoking Ban!

Gary Popkin wrote:
I was out with Vlad again tonight and we stuck up another 16 posters in
bars, sometimes accompanied by cheers that could be heard out in the
street, sometimes by praises to God himself that such a candidate has come
along.

We still have more Brooklyn bars to visit.

It's true!

Not to brag or anything but I left Gary off in front of one establishment.
He walked in and about 30 seconds later I heard the entire bar erupt in
hoots and hollars. Then they started chanting POPKIN, POPKIN, POPKIN. I am
not ashamed to admit that I got a little choked up at this point. It was
like everything I (we) believed in finally mattered. The people were behind
us, it resonated with folks who are just plain tired of big brothers meddling in their lives. It truly, truly was a beautiful moment. Like something out of a movie.

Vote No! on Proposition One

Proposal One, on the NY ballot in November, will:

* sharply curtail the governor's right to veto spending;
* guarantee late budgets every year;
* increase taxes every year;
* increase debt every year;
* allow legislators to enact budget changes in secret;
* remove the provision mandating that lawmakers lose their paychecks when the budget is proposed late;and
* remove all checks and balances--allowing the legislature to become the "constructor" of the budget.

Libertarian Ballot Access Victories

Oct 12 The Supreme Court of New York, Appellate Division, upheld a decision allowing Gary Popkin, candidate for Kings County Borough President, to stay on the ballot as a Libertarian. The petitions for two Libertarian Borough Presidents were combined this year so that petitioners could collect signatures from Queens voters in Brooklyn and Brooklyn voters in Queens on just one form. The precedent will make it possible for geographically-close groups of libertarians to combine various candidates onto one petition in the future.

After using a home-rolled blogging script for months to capture and tag local news, Bonnie starts to investigate various blogging packages. You can compare features of many packages using this chart: http://www.asymptomatic.net/blogbreakdown.htm.

There's also GreyMatter, which is very easy to set up. Will it do enough? That's what this test is for.
