This Modern Day Emperor Has No Clothes

On June 5th 1984, my sister Brandi, (who was gorgeous in every way), died of a cocaine overdose. At 28, she was a fatality in the War on Drugs. Impossible to free her from deaths eternal grasp, it tragically illustrates the frequent results of legislative attempts to impose morality; losing more than, you could ever win.

Why do the issues of Drugs, Prostitution, and Gambling continue to confound our leaders? Is it because self-deceptive interests are blind to common sense ideas? Any open eyed, objective, analysis reveals that the policy of Prohibition is bankrupt.

Indulgence in vices affects people differently, with few harmed, as devastatingly as, those unfortunate enough to be caught up in the gears of our, criminal “justice” system. With warning laden packages of known dose and purity, there is an excellent chance that those who overdosed would not have.

The promulgation of prohibitive policies could be, construed as treason. The United States Constitution wisely provided great freedoms from previous constraints of intolerant, sanctimonious zealots, and other fanatics of all kinds, who would impose criminally, their restrictions, morals, and judgements, on everyone else. This individuality, (in large part), had enabled us to lead the world through the two centuries of mankind’s greatest advancements and achievements.

Today unfortunately in many areas, (like vices), these freedoms have been withdrawn. Advancements and achievements are being removed from reach, by newly enacted or until recently, rarely enforced laws. Paradoxically, this increases participation in vice activities through the allure of the forbidden, and raises the level of danger through no regulation. Criminal elements are, fueled. Due to unknown dose and purity or, from impurities, drug poisonings surge. Disease is spread through dirty needles, and unregulated prostitutes.

Prohibitive policies have created harmful, wasteful, and counterproductive government powers of coercion and restraint, reducing, or eliminating individuals’ rights and accesses to: informed freedom of choice. In practice detrimental, not just to certain individuals, but society as a whole. We can’t afford; production lost, agriculture destroyed, scientific breakthroughs missed, law enforcement resources squandered or corrupted, police raids gone bad, taxes not collected, diseases spread, and lives lost or ruined, occurring today.

Our policies in these areas are a cruel farce, exacting tremendous tolls on people. Help stop this madness. Speak out against it. Support common sense policies.

Sincerely,
