Woodstock Town Justice
I won 193 votes versus 1946 votes for my opponent. Crushing defeat ;-), but
spectacular showing via Lib'n usual results. Probably even better considering
that I had a total budget of about $500 to campaign with ($100 gratefully
received from Jeff Bennett, thanx Jeff), and that I was running against a 12
year incumbent.
In my town I indirectly know a lot of people, insofar that I go to people's
homes to correct their computer problems and I tutor; invariably I got to
talking with them about libertarianism and later that I was running for office.
I ran 3 advertisements in the local paper (copies of which you can see if you'd
like, they are also posted in the yahoodiscuss files section).
I went on local access TV numerous times to be interviewed by a popular weekly
producer, I posted many flyers on public telephones, posts and other public
places, and I stood on the street w/my fiancee and "campaigned" also w/flyers
and conversation.
