The Facts |
13 children die per day from gun violence
This number actually includes people "ages 19 and under." The vast majority (all but 2.66 per day) were 16 years or older, including 18- and 19-year-old adults. The death of any child is tragic, but the number is far lower than claimed by HCI. |
kids' accidental deaths from guns are out of control
There are more kids who have unfortunate accidents with five-gallon buckets every year than with guns. Is there going to be a movement to ban five-gallon buckets? We didn't think so. How about matches and cigarette lighters, other household items statistically more dangerous for kids than guns? |
it's more dangerous for a woman to fight back when being raped
The probability of serious injury from an attack is 2.5 times greater for women offering no resistance than for women resisting with a gun. | sources: the Department of Justice's National Crime Victimization Survey, the National Safety Council, John R.
