The Clinton County LP booth at the Plattsburgh Mayor's Cup

Gerry in front of our bean-bag toss. Robin and Bonnie at the booth with Darth Vader!

7/3/05 to 7/8/05--Trinity Park, Plattsburgh

Bob Hofer worked the booth the first few days, with his wife Lucy helping out a few hours as well. Bonnie came by with the bean-bag board and prizes on July 3, the first day, and worked a few hours with them both. On Monday, the next day, Bob wrote: "They moved our location so that we are now somewhat across from the Information Booth. It is not in the best flow of traffic, but is nice and shady...The yellow sign up sheets on the clipboard has just one more blank line on the first page and we have perhaps 23 entries in the raffle. G.C. Allwell called and will help me tomorrow morning at 11am until ?. And Robin Wiggin will help out from 3-5pm tomorrrow, so things should go well. I will take a tarpaulin tomorrow in case it starts to rain so that we can cover the table."

Both Gerry Allwell and Robin did come to help out, and their help was much appreciated. The folks who signed up for information will be getting a few issues of our newsletter and an invitation to our first social event, in mid-August. The Beanie Babies went to loving homes, and everyone who indicated that they wanted a book as their raffle prize (the ones we were especially trying to find), got a special selection from Bob or Bonnie's libertarian library.

With the $1 million insurance policy we had to take out for the event, it wasn't cheap, but it was our first outreach event in Clinton County--perhaps the first ever there in the history of the LP! We got 30 names and 3 new enrollees, and provided a good time for the community!

Here are some more pictures taken with Bonnie's camera phone. (Click on any of the photos for a larger version.)

Prizes and flyers at our booth; registration forms; some libertarian books to raffle off (the Beanie Babies were more popular).

The cannon-firer from the Saratoga exhibit kindly agrees to pose next to our "Battle of Plattsburgh" bean-bag-toss. So does a woman in 1814 attire, from the same exhibit.

Final day at the Mayor's Cup--Friday. (We got rained out Saturday.) It's Classic Car Day on the street we're on, and the Party Time person is Big Bird today. Funny T-shirt seen Friday afternoon.
